Robert Phelan
is a thirty year veteran of the insurance
industry. Having worked for major brokerage
firms throughout New England, Bob is
currently Chairman & CEO of Litchfield
Insurance Group.
In his
capacity as CEO, Bob has led his company to
national prominence in providing a wide
range of value-added services to its
clients. Litchfield was named by Rough Notes
Magazine as Marketing Agency of the Month
for May 2001 and then received the ultimate
recognition of Agency of the Year 2001 by
the same publication.
Bob has a BA
from Tufts University, holds the
professional designation, Associate in Risk
Management (ARM) and is a distinguished
graduate of The Buckley School of Public
Speaking. He participates at the national
level on several broker networks and
advisory groups, including the prestigious
RiskProNet, International, where he is a
past member of the Board of Directors.
In January
’05, after conducting a nationwide search,
The National Alliance Research Academy
recognized Bob as one of “The 25 Most
Innovative Agents in America”. The profiles
of all 25 were published in March ’05 in a
book by the same name.
Bob is a
member of the Editorial Advisory Board of
Rough Notes Magazine, the largest
circulation trade journal dedicated to the
insurance brokerage business. He is former
President of Captiva, Ltd., a Bermuda-based
captive insurance company and has spoken
extensively on the captive concept. Bob has
also spoken throughout the U.S. and Canada
on the topic, “Differentiation through
Value-Added Services.”
Locally, Bob
is on the Board of Directors of the
Northwest Connecticut Association for the
Arts which operates the Warner Theatre. He
is also on the Board of Directors of
Connecticut Junior Republic, a residential
treatment facility for troubled youth
located in Litchfield. In addition, Bob was
recently named to the Board of Directors of
the Connecticut Technology Council where he
is Vice-Chair of Membership. Bob resides in
Canton, CT with his wife, four children and
tennis ball-retrieving Golden Retriever,
Eddie.

Carol Zuck

Litchfield Insurance Group
Carol Zuck is a thirty-three year veteran of
the insurance industry. Having worked for
brokerage firms in Connecticut, New York and
Texas, Carol joined Litchfield Insurance
Group in 1993 and is currently Sr. Vice
President-Commercial Lines.
Through creative management and a strategic
shift to focus on the customer, Carol has
been instrumental in developing the superior
service culture our clients experience at
Litchfield Insurance Group.
In her current capacity, Carol oversees the
development of the service staff, day to day
operations of the agency, maintains
relations with insurance carriers, and
participates at the national level on
several broker networks.

James Fabiaschi

Litchfield Insurance Group
Jim Fabiaschi joined The Litchfield
Insurance Group in 1985 and has served in
many capacities. He is currently a Vice
President and an owner. Prior to joining the
Litchfield Insurance Group, Jim was a
financial auditor for Deloitte & Touche, a
Big 5 Accounting Firm. He brings a
businessman's perspective to risk management
with emphasis on appropriate asset and
income protection and cost efficiency.
Jim's areas of expertise include high tech
firms, large and/or publicly traded
companies, and municipalities. Jim has
placed several clients in group insurance
captives where insureds own part of their
own insurance company and save significant
premium dollars. As a Registered
Professional Liability Underwriter, he has
helped several clients put together the most
appropriate directors & officers liability
insurance programs.
Jim is an integral member of our technology
insurance division and serves several of our
larger high tech and e-commerce clients. He
is a member of Connecticut Technology
Council. Through a nationwide network of
partnerships, Litchfield brings unique
insurance/risk management capabilities to
the Connecticut technology community,
particularly in the areas of network
security and international risk management.
Jim has a BS in Accounting from Fairfield
University and a Masters in Business
Administration from the University of New
Haven. He holds the professional
designations of Certified Insurance
Consultant, Registered Professional
Liability Underwriter, Certified Public
Accountant, and Certified Management
Accountant.
Jim is an active member of the Northwest
Connecticut Chamber of Commerce and has
served as Treasurer. He has been an industry
leader for the United Way for several years
and is a member of the Torrington Elks, Sons
of Italy, and UNICO clubs.

Bill Latz
Assistant
Vice President

Bill Latz joined the Litchfield Insurance
Group in 1996. He is currently employed as
Assistant VP of the Life, Health and
Financial Services Department. Bill began
his career with Boston Mutual Insurance and
has spent the past 19 years managing the
Group Services Department for some of the
most prominent agencies in CT.
Focusing on the middle market segment,
Bill’s expertise lies in alternative funding
arrangements, self-funded programs and
multi-state employer solutions. Bill
understands the challenges employers face
and implements the Total Risk Management
approach to find the necessary balance
between the needs the HR manager and the
CFO.
Bill holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing
and Finance from Central Connecticut State
University, and a Master’s degree in
Business Administration from the University
of Bridgeport. He recently completed a
second term on the Board of Directors for
the Northwest Connecticut Chamber of
Commerce, and is a member of their insurance
committee.
Bill has served on several insurance company
and HMO advisory councils. He was
chairperson for the Connecticut Benefit
Brokers Association, and is a member of the
Connecticut State Underwriters Association,
the Association of Health Insurance Agents,
and the National Association of Life
Underwriters.

Angelo DiMatteo

Angelo
DiMatteo joined Litchfield Insurance Group
June of 2006 and is currentlyVice President
of the Private Construction Group for the
firm. He manages the Construction Group’s
operations out of Hartford, CT. His
experience and knowledge of the construction
industry assists him in his responsibility
for leading LIG’s business development and
client retention efforts through consulting
and servicing clients needs.
His primary focus is to think creatively in
reviewing and analyzing a contractor’s risk,
recommending possible methods of marketing,
as well as providing clients with the
insurance program that best suits their
needs. In addition, he helps construction
companies analyze their total cost of risk
and develops solutions for clients to lower
cost and add value to the bottom line.
Angelo previously worked at Allied North
America, a national broker dedicated to the
construction industry. As Vice President in
their Hartford office, Angelo worked with
major contractor clients throughout New
England. Prior to Allied, he worked for
Marsh in their Hartford office, serving a
diverse group of clients with an emphasis on
construction. Angelo was responsible for
growing Marsh’s Construction Practice,
working with large contractors in East
Coast.
In addition to P&C experience, Angelo also
has 11 years in the healthcare industry and
spent 9 years with Oxford Health Plans. At
Oxford, he managed a $30 million dollar book
of business with over 11,000 members and
received several performance awards.
Being active in the
Construction Institute, AGC and ABC helps
Angelo stay abreast of the key issues that
contractors face on a daily basis. He is
currently a judge for the 2008 construction
project awards of the Associated General
Contractors. He also sat on a Risk Task
force for the Construction Institute and
currently chairs the AGC’s Young Contractors
Membership Committee.
Angelo is
licensed as a Property & Casualty and Life &
Health producer in multiple states. He
graduated from the University of Connecticut
with a degree in Finance and has his CRIS
(Construction Risk Insurance Specialist)
designation from IRMI. He is also a
Certified Commercial Lines Coverage
Specialist and a Certified Workers’
Compensation Advisor. Angelo is also a
recipient of the 2007 Hartford Business
Journal’s Top 40 under 40, which selects top
performing professionals in various
fields. Angelo resides in West Hartford
with his wife and two children.
