A lot of people find health insurance plans to be a crucial part of the job hunting process as private health coverage can be costly. Employee health benefits don’t seem to be as common as they once were which may be one of the reasons why self funded insurance plans are becoming more popular. There are of course, other benefits to consider when looking for potential employers. Even in this time of high unemployment rates and few job opportunities, you still need to consider the employer you choose carefully.

When searching for a job, you should always keep the long term in mind. While many people do not have the luxury of picking and choosing the perfect job, it can be wise to consider the long term scenario when selecting the opportunities to apply for.

Make sure that you find yourself at a job that is realistic for your circumstances. Think about your current schedule and what you can give to an employer before committing more of your time. It can be easy to take on more than you can handle. You do not want to find yourself over your head in a couple months’ time.

Does the job offer any opportunity for advancement or pay increases in the future? Will it be a step in the right direction, or will you be deviating from your desired career path out of desperation for money?

The answers to some of these questions may be of more importance to you than whether or not an employer offers group health coverage. This does not mean you have to go without coverage. One of our agents would be happy to discuss the benefits of self funded insurance plans with you.
